Building Safer Neighbourhoods in Northeast Edmonton:

Safety is the foundation of a strong, connected community. At the Northeast Edmonton Safe Neighbourhoods Association (NESNA), our vision is simple but powerful: for everyone who lives, works, or spends time in Northeast Edmonton to feel safe.

NESNA is dedicated to strengthening community safety across the NE region through innovative ideas, collaboration, and action. We work closely with the Edmonton Police Service, government departments, community leagues, local businesses, and partner organizations to address safety concerns and create meaningful, long-term solutions.

Working Together for Community Safety:

We believe that partnerships are essential to creating neighbourhoods where people feel secure and supported. Strong working relationships within communities play a vital role in addressing safety issues such as personal safety, trust in police services, awareness of individual rights, language barriers, and the needs of diverse populations.

When individuals, community leagues, or businesses reach out to NESNA, we focus on identifying practical actions that can help make neighbourhoods feel safer for everyone. Our approach is rooted in listening, collaboration, and shared responsibility.

Inclusive, Community‑Led Engagement:

NESNA places a high priority on engaging all residents—regardless of economic background, immigration status, ethnicity, gender, or lived experience—along with businesses and community organizations. Inclusive consultation ensures that safety strategies reflect the voices, needs, and valuable contributions of the entire community.

An important part of our work is building awareness around safety‑related activities and events, highlighting opportunities for individual involvement, and encouraging residents to take an active role in improving safety where they live and work.

Get Involved:

Memberships will be available through the association, giving community members a collective voice and access to potential benefits within their area. Together, we can strengthen neighbourhood connections and create safer spaces for everyone.

NESNA is also available to support neighbourhoods directly with safety‑focused initiatives and guidance.
