Director Responsibilities

As a Director, you play an important role in helping our community league thrive. Directors stay informed about league activities and contribute to decisions that shape our policies, programs, finances, and advocacy efforts.

Directors are expected to:

• Be Committed: Support the mission and goals of the league through active participation and a genuine interest in community well-being.

• Lead with Integrity: Ensure the board’s work follows our bylaws and policies, and help uphold high standards of accountability and transparency.

• Be a Positive Ambassador: Speak positively about the league and help strengthen relationships among the board, committees, and community members.

• Support One Another: Welcome and orient new board members, helping them feel informed and included.

• Show Up Prepared: Review materials ahead of time, attend meetings regularly, and arrive ready to contribute to discussion and decision-making.

• Guide Policy and Planning: Work collaboratively to review and approve policies, plans, and recommendations from committees and staff.

• Review and Improve: Periodically look at our bylaws and suggest updates to ensure they meet the needs of our growing community.

• Plan for the Future: Take part in developing the league’s annual goals, strategic plans, and budget.

• Be a Responsible Steward: Approve and oversee the league’s budget and financial matters with care.

• Communicate Clearly: Prepare and share reports at board meetings to keep everyone informed.

• Celebrate Progress: Present an annual report at the Annual General Meeting, highlighting achievements and community impact.
